One thing was clear when the game between Fort Campbell and North Hardin Classical tipped off on post Saturday afternoon. That was that the Lady Falcons were going to win.
Fort Campbell’s Lady Falcons used a big 14-0 win late in the game to come from behind and take a 45-33 win over the Lady Falcons from Radcliff.
To get the win, the Lady Falcons took full advantage of a late-game foul crisis for North Hardin Classical. NCH had three players foul out in the fourth quarter, the last coming with just over four minutes to go in the game and resulting in NCH having to finish the game with just four players on the court.
The score at that point was 33-32 with Fort Campbell leading. Fort Campbell then scored the next 12 points as North Hardin Classical could not find a way to stop the Lady Falcons in the paint or on the boards playing one player down.
The game was close early as each team tried to find an offensive flow. North Hardin Classical led 8-7 after the opening quarter. Four NCH players scored in the second quarter as the lead grew to 20-14 at the break. A three-point shot late in the quarter from Fort Campbell’s Rosella Rajj may have given the Lady Falcons just the momentum they needed in the second half.
The two teams came out after the break and played pretty even. Fort Campbell was able to trim the lead to 30-25 going into the final quarter.
In addition to North Hardin Classical’s foul problems, the Fort Campbell defense limited NCH to just one field goal in the final quarter. North Hardin Classical did not help their cause any at the free throw line, going 1 of 10 in the fourth.
Rosella Rajj led the Lady Falcons with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Laticyia Cabrera had 10 points, all coming in the final quarter. Madison Newingham finished with 8 points and 21 rebounds.
North Hardin Classical was led by Jazz Brown with 14 points. Brown managed those points despite picking up four fouls in the first quarter and then fouling out early in the fourth quarter.
Fort Campbell (1-6) is now off until January 5 when they host Christian Fellowship.
