
Down 10 at halftime and trailing by as much as 16 in the third quarter, Crittenden County’s girls rallied for a key 5th District victory over Lyon County Friday night in Marion.
Anna Boone scored 14 of her game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Lady
Rockets surprised the Lady Lyons 63-56 at Rocket Arena.
Georgia Holeman tied the game at 43-43 with a 3-pointer from the corner with 6:51 to play.
Boone then put Crittenden up for the first time since early in the contest when she scored on a putback and drew a foul. The three-point trip pushed the Lady Rockets in front 46-43 at the 6:39 mark.
Boone added another three-point play just over a minute later for Crittenden, which never trailed after getting the lead in the fourth quarter.
Lyon was still within 55-51 when Piper Cotham scored from in close with 2:24 to go.
But Crittenden converted at the free throw stripe down the stretch, taking its biggest lead of the night at 63-53 on two Boone charity tosses with 1:06 to play.
Lyon seemed to have a handle on things when it overcame an early 8-2 deficit to go up 14-10 after 8 minutes.
The Lady Lyons (4-3 overall, 2-1 district) got to halftime with a 33-23 advantage, then scored the first six points out of the locker room to build the biggest margin of the night at 39-23.
But Crittenden (5-2, 2-1) took advantage of turnovers and some cold Lyon shooting to get back in it.
Elliot Evans added 17 points for the Lady Rockets while Morgan Stewart finished with 11.
Cotham topped the Lyon scoresheet with 20 points, but only four after halftime. Courtney Collins added 12 for Lyon and Lexi Holland had 10.
The Lady Lyons play again at Floyd Central on Saturday.
The Lady Rockets will next be in action in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton next Thursday and Friday.
