Lyon County’s Travis Perry surpassed “King” Kelly Coleman as the state’s all-time leading scorer last season.

He did so in Rupp Arena during the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen state tournament, which is the same arena he’ll play his college basketball games in starting next fall after verbally committing to Kentucky just over five weeks ago.

This past weekend, Perry and his fellow Lyon County teammates visited Wayland Gymnasium to face Floyd Central. In front of a crowd eager to see just how good the Kentucky commit was, Perry put on a show with 30 points and led his team to a 110-72 victory. Les Nicholson was in attendance and captured nearly every moment of Perry’s performance in the historic gymnasium that was once the home of “King” Kelly Coleman.
