Blazers Open Tarkanian Classic With Rout of Mount Vernon, UT

The University Heights Academy boys’ basketball team hit the ground running on Monday in the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas with an 82-40 victory over Mount Vernon Academy, UT.

Tylin George hit a pair of first-quarter three-pointers and Kyler Baker added eight points to lead the Blazers to a commanding 29-6 advantage.  Gavin Grubbs led the UHA scoring in the second with eight points and Elijah Walton finished with eight in the half for a 50-17 Blazer lead.

Walton duplicated his first-half effort with eight more points in the third and George connected on two more from behind the arc to help the Blazers continue to build the lead.  Walton posted seven points in the fourth to finish with a game-high 23, followed by Grubbs with 18, and George with 17.

Andrew McMurdie was the only Patriot in double figures with 19, and Gabe Jackson scored nine on three three-pointers.

The Blazers won their second-straight to improve to 5-2 and will play Maranatha, CA on Tuesday.  The Minutemen enjoyed a 66-21 win over GV Christian, NV on Monday.
