
The Trigg County Lady Wildcats played the first of two games at the CA Classic at the Clarksville Academy on Tuesday and lost to Clarksville’s newest high school – Kirkwood 45-25.
Down 25-11 at halftime, Trigg County was dealt another blow when leading scorer Evonna McGee missed the second half with an ankle injury. The senior guard, who leads the team at nearly 12 points a game, exited with one point.
Jordin More knocked down three 3-pointers and Jessica Mayes added two more for Kirkwood.
Eighth-grader AJ Navarro scored five points in the second quarter, accounting for both of Trigg’s first half field goals.
Another eighth grader, Veyda Grinols, led the Lady Wildcats with eight points.
Trigg County, who came in the game shooting just 41% at the free throw line, hit 10 of 16 (62%).
The Lady Wildcats will play Clarksville Northwest on Wednesday in the final game of the CA Classic and will play in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic next week.
