
A 27-3 run in the first half put Hamilton Heights in control, and the Chattanooga school went on to down Miller Career Academy of St. Louis 88-67 Friday at the West Kentucky Hoops Classic.
Miller Career Academy led early in the game before Hamilton Heights stormed back to take a 30-18 lead after 8 minutes.
The Hawks (12-2) then put up 36 puts in the second quarter while extending their lead to 66-35 at halftime.
Victor Mikic was the Player of the Game for Hamilton Heights after tossing in 24 points. Kevin DeKovachich had 21 points while Vito Perkovic tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds. Bryson Andrews added 11 points.
Antione Franklin Jr. had 21 points and 10 boards for Miller Career Academy. Christian Johnson had 18 points and was named the Phoenix’s Player of the Game.
Hamilton Heights won both of its games in the Hoops Classic. That included a win over Pinson Valley (Ala.) on Thursday.
Miller Career Academy (2-8) dropped both of its tilts, including a setback to Olive Branch (Miss.) on Thursday.
