Lady Colonels Fall to Dyersburg in Marshall Holiday Classic Finale

A tough week at the Marshall County Holiday Classic came to an end for the Christian County girls’ basketball team on Friday with a 57-46 loss to Dyersburg, TN.

The Lady Colonels dropped their fourth straight to slip to 3-7, while Dyersburg won its second in a row to run its record to 10-2.

After falling behind from the start on Thursday in a loss to Marshall County, the Lady Colonels led 19-16 after the first quarter on Friday behind eight points from NaVaeh Day and five for Lazarie Daniel.  However, things went south in the second, with Joya Crawford putting up 13 points for Dyersburg to put the Trojans in front 36-28 at the halftime break.

Chelby Jordan knocked down a pair of three-pointers for Dyersburg in the third, and Christian County was held to only nine points to tack on three points to the deficit.  Anaysia Bagwell did her best to lead the Lady Colonels back with seven points in the fourth, but Dyersburg held on for an 11-point win.

Bagwell, Daniel, and Day each scored 12 for Christian County, and Day led the team with eight rebounds.
