
The Hopkinsville Tiger wrestling team came in 17th place at Saturday’s Christian County Invitational at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.
Jaylin Littleton finished in fourth place in the 165-pound class. After a quarterfinal loss to Union County’s Jake Dowdy, he battled back to the third-place match where he lost a 14-3 decision to Clinton County’s Deameion Leavell, who was seventh in the state last year for Christian County before moving to Tennessee over the summer.
James Tucker (144), Tewon Thomas (150), Caleb Shull (175), John Morton (190), and Alden Marshall (285) each won a match for the Tigers, who didn’t have a complete roster due to illness.
Hoptown totaled 36 points – a half point behind 16th place John Hardin and four points behind 15th place Calloway County.
Union County finished in first place with 324.5 points. Nolensville, Tenn. was second with 233 points followed by Christian County (147.5) and defending state champion Paducah Tilghman (146.5).
