Top Fives Pace Colonel Wrestlers at CCHS Invitational

Christian County had six wrestlers place in the top five which helped the Colonels finish in third place at Saturday’s Christian County Invitational at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.

Haydon Merrick had one of two second-place finishes for the Colonels on the day. Merrick advanced to the championship match where he dropped a 4-2 decision to Union County’s Luke Thomas.

Dane Miller also finished in second place, losing to defending state champion Jordyn Rainey of Union County in the championship match at 132.

Holden Schneider won third place at 126, capping a 3-1 day on the mat.

Kevondre Young finished in fourth place at 120. His Saturday record was 3-2.

Anthony Velasco (3-2) finished in fifth place at 113, winning the fifth-place match 12-6 over Paducah Tilghman’s Christian Prietto-Bottoms.

Zach Eads finished in fifth place at 157, posting a 3-2 record

Elijah Cooper (2-3) finished in sixth place at 106.

Isaiah Davidson finished in sixth place in the 175-pound class and Xaveiyon Reid was sixth at 285.

Christian County totaled 147.5 points to finish behind tourney champion Union County (324.5) and Nolensville, Tenn. (233). The Colonels finished one point ahead of defending state champion Paducah Tilghman.
