
Trigg County’s young wrestling team continues to make strides as the Wildcats finished in 18th place at Saturday’s Christian County Invitational at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.
Gavin Kline took sixth place in the 126-pound class. After a loss in the opening round to Meade County’s Patrick Durbin, he rallied to win three straight matches. He fell to Nolensville’s Parker Jones in the fifth-place match.
Eli Campbell won a pair of matches in the 113-pound class but fell short of scoring with a 6-4 loss to Station Camp’s Jay Hill in the final consolation round.
Brody Calhoun won a match at 175 and was also one match away from scoring. A hard slam to the mat ended his day and sent him to the hospital where he was treated and released.
Trigg County scored 23 points, 13 points behind 17th place Hopkinsville.
Union County finished in first place with 324.5 points. Nolensville, Tenn. was second with 233 points followed by Christian County (147.5) and defending state champion Paducah Tilghman (146.5).
