Vince Marrow felt a little uneasy before he went to watch Kentucky play Louisville at the Yum Center last week.

The Kentucky football associate coach did not endear himself to Louisville fans when the Cats knocked off Louisville coach Jeff Brohm’s team in the final regular-season game a month earlier in Louisville.

What Marrow was not expecting was to feel like he was in Rupp Arena watching John Calipari’s team play.

“I think it was a lot of things. We have a really good basketball team. I think some fans were also coming to see (Louisville coach) Kenny (Payne) and support him when they were hearing stuff he might get fired after the game,” Marrow said on WLAP Sunday Morning Sports Talk.

“But it did sound like I was in Rupp Arena. You could hear, ‘Go Big Blue and Blue-White.’ The Kentucky fans were really great.”

Marrow did talk with his friend Brohm during the game and noted that TV cameras were trying to figure out what they were saying. Earlier that day at the Louisville Quarterback Club Marrow had noted UK got “every major recruit” it wanted in Kentucky on national signing day but also acknowledged recruiting against Brohm was a lot more difficult than it was against former Louisville coach Scott Satterfield who he did not mention by name.

“Our fans are great. Even at our bowl games in 2018-19-21 just at the pep rallies you would see thousands of people there. It was like that with basketball at the Yum Center,” Marrow said. “I was a little nervous. These Louisville people hate me.

“I felt pretty good about the game. I played basketball. I know a good team when I see it. I am not trying to put pressure on Cal but I think these guys are going to make a deep run (in the NCAA Tournament).”
