The McEwen Warriors found out Friday that glass is not always fragile, especially if that glass is named Jamison. The Todd County Central big man, who entered the week as the state’s leading scorer, exploded for 37 points as the Rebels won their 4th straight game by getting past the Warriors 60-50 in their final game of the Stewart County Christmas Classic.
Glass ‘broke’ the game open early for Todd County Central. The senior scored 13 points in the first quarter and 13 more in the second quarter as the Rebels took the lead early on in the contest.
The Rebels defense limited McEwen to just five points in the opening quarter as Todd County Central bolted out to an 18-5 lead. Hayden Strader heated up behind the arc in the second quarter, knocking down three long shots as he and Jamison Glass scored all of the Rebels’ 22 points in the second. The Rebels left the floor at the half in possession of a 40-24 lead.
McEwen was able to slow down Glass and the Rebels in the third quarter, limiting Todd Central to just 8 points. The problem for the Warriors was that they chewed virtually nothing off the lead, scoring only ten points of their own and trailing 48-34 going into the final quarter.
There would be no rally in this one for a McEwen team that entered the game with 10 wins. The Rebels did what they needed to over the final eight minutes to hold on for the ten-point win.
In addition to the 37 points for Jamison Glass, Hayden Strader finished with 14 points for the Rebels.
Caleb Coates was the top scorer for McEwen with 23 points. Case Greene added 14.
Todd County Central (7-5) is now off until next Friday when the Rebels host Franklin-Simpson in a 13th District matchup.
