
Hopkinsville’s DeAvery Ramey scored a team-high 25 points and drilled four three-pointers on Friday at the City of Middletown Holiday Classic, but it wasn’t enough to help the Tigers avoid a 79-77 overtime loss to Elizabethtown.
The game was tied 14 times and the teams battled to eight ties before the Panthers outscored the Tigers 7-5 in the extra period for their fourth win in five outings. Hopkinsville slipped to 6-7 and will look to get back on track on Tuesday at Henderson County.
Ayden Evans scored ten first-quarter points for Elizabethtown to overcome five from Ramey and four for Antonio Williams. Trey Durbin and Alex Evans combined for 13 in the second for the Panthers, and they led 45-38 at the halftime break.
Hoptown rallied in the third behind seven for Ramey, trimming six points off the deficit to pull to within a point with a quarter left. Williams posted seven points in the fourth to finish with 22 for the Tigers before fouling out. Ramey chipped in six to help force overtime with the game knotted 72-72.
Ramey scored four of the Tigers’ five points in the overtime period, but Ayden Evans countered with five for the Panthers to seal the victory.
