Henderson County extended its hot start to the season with a 79-63 victory over visiting Hopkinsville on Tuesday, the Colonels’ fourth straight win to improve to 11-1.
It was all Henderson early, with the Colonels outscoring Hopkinsville 25-10 in the first quarter to doom the Tigers to a third loss in four outings.
Lacon McKinney and Nicholis Belle combined for 11 points in the opening frame for the Colonels to overcome six for Hopkinsville’s Antonio Williams.
Williams followed with ten of the Tigers’ 14 points in the second quarter, but they couldn’t dent the Henderson lead and trailed 40-24 at the halftime break.
Henderson continued to pull away in the third with five points each from Elijah Suggs and Dwaine Moss. Williams scored 18 of his game-high 32 for the Tigers in the second half, while Moss nailed a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter to lead Henderson with 19 points.
Williams was the lone Tiger in double figures, while Belle and McKinney joined Moss for the Colonels.
Hopkinsville will be back in action on Thursday when Marshall County visits Tiger Gym for the City of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic.
Henderson County will host Tennessee’s Pearl Cohn on Friday.
