Daviess County Finishes Strong to Top Lady Lyons 65-53

A strong finish helped Daviess County’s girls claim a 65-53 win at Lyon County Saturday afternoon.

Up just 38-37 through three quarters, the Lady Panthers put up 27 points in the final stanza to finish off the Lady Lyons.

Daviess (10-5) was 12 of 15 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter and finished the game 16 of 20 at the stripe.

Lyon (10-5) got off to a good start in the contest and led 13-9 after one period.

The contest was tied 19-19 and 21-21 before Daviess edged ahead at halftime 25-21.

The Lady Lyons never held the lead in the final frame after closing to within one point entering the quarter.

Piper Cotham had 16 points to lead Lyon while Courtney Collins had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Trinity Taylor just missed pulling off the same feat, finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds. Lilly Perry had seven points to go with 10 boards.

For Daviess, Kennedy Lane scored 11 of her game-high 23 points in the fourth quarter. Lily Hoagland and Zoey Beehn each had 14 points for the Lady Panthers.

The Lady Lyons will next host Livingston Central for a 2nd Region All A Classic quarterfinal round matchup on Monday.
