A last-second chance to tie or take the lead did not quite go the way the Christian County Colonels would have liked for it to Tuesday night. Henderson County was thus able to survive and take a 60-58 win over the southern Colonels in a big 2nd Region matchup.
Coming off tough losses to Male and Lyon County over the weekend in the City of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic, Christian County very nearly knocked off the team with the highest RPI in the 2nd Region.
The two teams battled back and forth in the early going of the contest. Henderson County would end up taking a 14-12 lead after one.
Henderson County’s defense limited Christian County to just nine points in the second quarter. With their defense clamping down, the northern Colonels were able to extend the lead to 29-21.
Jordan Miles helped rally the southern Colonels, scoring ten points in the third quarter as Christian County came battling back. The Colonels would cut the Henderson County lead to just two at 41-39 heading into the final quarter of regulation.
The Colonels had their chances over the final eight minutes but came up just two points short in the end.
Jordan Miles had a big night for Christian County with 22 points. Derrell Bateman also hit double figures with 20.
Cooper Davenport and Alec Satterfield had 10 points each to lead Henderson County.
The loss drops Christian County to 6-9 on the year. The Colonels are back in action Thursday when they host Heritage Christian in an 8th District contest.
