Crittenden’s Girls Beat Caldwell for Berth in All A Regional Final

Sophomore Anna Boone pumped in 29 points to lead the Crittenden County Lady Rockets into the championship game of the 2nd Region All A Classic.

Boone scored 18 points in the first half as Crittenden grabbed the upper hand on the way to a 63-47 victory over host Caldwell County Thursday night in semifinal round action.

Caldwell (5-10) held a 13-12 lead early in the second quarter following a basket from in close by Jakhia Copeland.

But Boone hit two 3-pointers during an 11-1 run that put Crittenden (9-7) in front for good.

By halftime, the Lady Rockets held a 33-21 advantage.

Caldwell made a nice run out of the gate in the second half to get within six points, 36-30, following a basket from inside by Tink Clark midway through the third period.

This time, Jordyn Hodge hit a pair of 3-pointers to quickly extend the margin back to 43-31, and Crittenden built a 47-33 lead through three quarters.

The Lady Rockets led by as much as 21 points in the final frame.

Hodge finished with 10 points for Crittenden as did Elliot Evans.

Nyla Sykes topped the Caldwell scoresheet with 12 points. Clark added 10.

The Lady Rockets have taken four straight from the Lady Tigers and six of the last seven meetings.

Caldwell still leads the all-time series between the two schools 78-29.

Crittenden will face Lyon County in Saturday’s 2 p.m. championship game in Princeton. The Lady Lyons routed Fort Campbell 94-15 in Thursday’s late semifinal.
