Kristian Story led his team to an Alabama state high school championship in 2019 and was named Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year after tying an Alabama state record with 175 total touchdowns.

He finished his prep career with 13,219 yards of total offense. He  threw for 2,434 yards and 40 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2018 to go along with 1,207 rushing yards and 16 scores. As a junior he increased his passing totals to 3,286 yards and 35 scores while running for 765 yards and seven scores. He also earned all-state honors at safety.

He was a consensus four-star recruit ranked as a top 225 player nationally and nation’s No. 6 athlete by 247Sports who played for his father at Lanett High School and eventually signed with home-state Alabama over offers from Florida, Georgia LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

But after four years with the Crimson Tide, Story announced Wednesday that he was transferring to Kentucky for his final collegiate season without even making an official visit to Lexington.

He redshirted in 2020 and was mainly a special teams player the last three years even though he did start against Kentucky this season because of an injury in the Alabama secondary. He has 22 tackles, two pass deflections and one interception in his career but was considered a strong possibility to be in the Alabama starting secondary next season.

He played in all 14 games last season, including the Rose Bowl loss to Michigan, with two starts and had 15 tackles.
