
Brooklyn Stewart scored seven points in each of the first and third quarters to help lead Muhlenberg County to a 72-46 win over the Trigg County Lady Wildcats on Thursday at Wildcat Gym.
The game originally appeared on the schedule for early February but was moved up three weeks.
The Brescia University-bound Stewart helped spark a 22-6 Muhlenberg lead out of the gate. She added seven more points in the third quarter as Muhlenberg outscored Trigg by 12 points.
Izzy Watkins scored 10 of her 15 points in the third period as Muhlenberg extended a 16-point halftime lead to 64-36 after three quarters.
Trigg County eighth grader A.J. Navarro continues to impress for the Lady Wildcats. She scored a career-high 22 points, including 10 in the third quarter.
Trigg committed 17 turnovers in the contest – six fewer than their season average – but Muhlenberg did a better job of possessing the basketball with just five turnovers.
Another eighth grader – Veyda Grinols – added nine points for Trigg County, who fell to 0-5 all-time against Muhlenberg County.
Trigg County’s Friday game at McLean County was canceled. The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to return to the floor on Tuesday with Crittenden County at Wildcat Gym.
