During Thursday night’s Trigg County Schools Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Bill Thorpe made the public aware of some really bad news — that eventually shifted to good.

Last week, Trigg County played host to the Class 2A sectional basketball tournament, bringing Calloway County’s Lady Lakers across the lakes from Murray and into Wildcat Gymnasium.

It’s here, Thorpe and Principal Tim Bush said, where some unnamed Lady Lakers had considerable possessions taken — possessions that were taken by another unnamed visiting team and/or its students.

Thorpe said Trigg County High School students rallied around the situation.

Thorpe called the measure “amazing,” and a “tribute to Trigg’s students, what they’ve been taught at home and the community.”

Bush said it “100%” wasn’t Trigg County students and/or players involved in the theft, but “knowing and proving” the thief were two different things.
