Logan County used 15 three-pointers on Friday to snap a five-game skid in the series and move to 2-0 in 13th-District play with an 80-68 victory over Todd County Central.
Jamison Glass’ late push on the way to a game-high 34 points came up short as the Rebels lost their third straight to slip to 7-8, 0-2 against district competition.
Glass scored six of the Rebels’ eight first-quarter points, and they trailed the Cougars by a point after the opening eight minutes.
Devin Schutt knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter to match six more points for Glass, but Samson Hightower’s seven points helped the Cougars outscore the Rebels by six to lead 29-22 at halftime.
Colby Collins had the hot hand for Logan County out of the break, draining five three-pointers in the third. Hightower added seven for the Cougars to counter eight for Glass, and the margin reached 17 points with a quarter to play.
Glass did his best to lead a fourth-quarter rally with 14 points and Keyshawn Moore drilled three triples for 11, but Hightower connected on the last two of his five three-pointers and Brady Hinton chipped in eight for the Cougars.
Moore was the only other Rebel in double figures with 18. Hightower and Collins each scored 23 for Logan County, and Hinton and Kade Wall each finished with 10.
Todd Central will complete its first round of district games with a trip to Russellville next week. The Rebels have won the last six in the series, including a 63-41 victory in last season’s district tournament.
