Hoptown Girls Swim to 8th Place Finish at Best of the West

The Hopkinsville girls’ swim team produced an eighth-place finish at Saturday’s 21-team Best of the West Invitational hosted by Bowling Green High School.

Grace Cansler scored a top-10 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking fourth place in 1:18.60. She also finished 14th in the 100-yard free in 1:06.33.

Livie Jorgensen finished in ninth place in the 200-yard IM (2:44.93) and 10th in the 100-yard free (1:05.29).

Kaley Bangart finished in 13th place in the 500-yard free in 6:58.75, knocking nearly seven seconds off her previous season-best. She also finished in 35th place in the 50-yard free (33.54).

Caroline Payne came in 17th place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:19.99) and 23rd place in the 50-yard free (31.29).

Saralynn Major produced a pair of 19th-place finishes in the 50-yard free (30.80) and 100-yard free (1:08.37).

Eliza Renshaw placed 24th in the 50-yard free (31.30) and 27th in the 100-yard free (1:13.33).

Brilyn Merrick came in 29th place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:29.44) and 41st in the 50-yard free (34.83).

Kaydon Coats came in 32nd place in the 100-yard free (1:06.07) and 39th in the 50-yard free (33.89).

Evelyn Bangart finished in 37th place in the 100-yard free (1:19.43) and 42nd in the 50-yard free (35.25).

Madelin Macario finished in 42nd place in the 100-yard free (1:23.47) and 46th in the 50-yard free (37.36).

The 200-yard medley relay team of Caroline Payne, Grace Cansler, Livie Jorgensen, and Saralynn Major finished in sixth place with a time of 2:19.59.

The 200-yard free relay team of Eliza Renshaw, Caroline Payne, Grace Cansler, and Livie Jorgensen came in ninth place (2:03.58).

The 400-yard free relay team of Eliza Renshaw, Kaydon Coats, Kaley Bangart, and Saralynn Major finished in 10th place in 5:08.96.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Evelyn Bangart, Brilyn Merrick, Kaley Bangart, and Kaydon Coats finished in 12th place with a time of 2:57.62

As a team, Hopkinsville totaled 106 points to finish 51 points behind seventh-place Elizabethtown and 11 points ahead of ninth-place Logan County.
