Gracie Stroh is a six-year member of Hopkinsville High School’s archery team, and the senior realizes her time on the starting line is coming to a close.
Stroh finished in third place at the NASP Region Tournament as a sophomore and won the NASP Region as an eighth-grader.
However, as she looks back on her career she also looks ahead to the final few months.
“I’m doing college applications and it’s hit me hard. I’m going to miss it, but I loved every moment of it,” she said.
Gracie’s high scores came as an eighth grader when she carded a 288 at both the NASP Region and the NASP Virtual State Tournament when she finished seventh out of 2,325 middle school shooters.
She has been working to get her scores back to that level.
“I want my high score to be in the 290s. I know I can get higher (than 288), and I want my average to be in the high 280s,” she said.
The main obstacle she has to overcome to reach that goal? Herself.
“I have to get out of my head. I’ve been doing this for so long, and I know every step. Sometimes I’ll forget it. Sometimes I’ll mess up what I’m supposed to be doing, and I know what I did wrong, and I’ve just got to get back in there and do it correctly,” she said.
It’s still up in the air as to whether archery will be in Gracie’s future after high school.
“I’m either going into the military or engineering and maybe even do archery in college.”
Gracie discussed her goals and ambitions in this YSE interview.
