A pair of former Caldwell County standouts helped lead their college basketball teams to wins on Saturday.
Jabrion Spikes had a game-high 22 points as his Georgetown College Tigers defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) 90-63 in Mid-South Conference action in Georgetown.
Meanwhile, Derrin Boyd had a team-high 19 points for the Lipscomb Bisons, who turned back North Alabama 88-79 in ASUN Conference play in Nashville.
After a slow start to the season, Spikes has moved into the starting lineup at Georgetown and now has his scoring average over double figures at 10.7 points a game.
Spikes, a sophomore, is averaging 20.3 points over the last four games while shooting 65.9 percent from the floor (29 of 44) in those games.
Spikes was 9 of 13 on Saturday, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range. He also had four assists, three rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Georgetown is now 14-4 overall but 1-2 in conference play.

Boyd leads Lipscomb in scoring at 16.4 points a game, which also ranks seventh in the ASUN.
Boyd was 5 of 12 from the field against North Alabama and made 2 of 3 from long range. He also grabbed six rebounds.
For the season, Boyd is shooting 50.8 percent from the floor while making 38.1 percent of his 3-pointers.
The Bisons are 12-8 this season and 3-2 in conference play.
Boyd is a graduate student at Lipscomb and still has one more season of eligibility remaining.
At Caldwell, Boyd finished fourth on the Tigers’ career scoring list with 1,911 points. He is also fifth on Caldwell’s all-time rebounding list with 633 boards.
Meanwhile, Spikes finished at No. 6 on the Tigers’ all-time scoring list with 1,434 career points. He is 10th on Caldwell’s career rebounding list with 537.
Spikes and Georgetown will play again on Thursday when they travel to Freed-Hardeman in Henderson, Tenn.
Boyd and Lipscomb also go on the road Thursday to face Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers.
