A 15-3 run midway through the second half turned out to be the difference for the Livingston Central Cardinals Saturday in Smithland. The Cardinals broke open a two-point game and then cruised on out to take a 77-65 win over the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors in one of the few games in the area to be played all week.
Livingston Central was up just 51-49 late in the third when the Cardinals ripped off the big run.
The game had been close up until that point. Livingston led HCA 17-15 after the first eight minutes of the game. Heritage would trail just 34-30 going into the break.
The Warriors continued to hang right with the Cardinals until the game-deciding run.
Both teams shot better than 50 percent, however, the Cardinals outrebounded the Warriors by 14.
Jason Leek had a huge afternoon for Heritage Christian with 37 points.
Heritage Christian (6-7) is set to return to action Monday in an 8th District contest at Fort Campbell.
