Missed free throws turned out to be very costly Tuesday night for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. The Lady Rebels went just 2 of 9 from the free throw line in overtime as they dropped a 69-68 decision on the road at Jo Byrns.
The Lady Rebels made four field goals to just one for Jo Byrns in the extra period. The Red Devils did, however, go 8 of 8 from the line in the overtime to get away with the one-point win.
The game was close throughout. Jo Byrns led 13-12 after the first quarter. The Red Devils extended that to 33-28 at the break.
Alexis Taylor got rolling in the third quarter and ignited the beginning of a comeback for the Lady Rebels. With Taylor putting up 11 points in the quarter, the Lady Rebels trimmed the lead to 48-45 going into the final quarter.
Abby Williams then took the baton and kept the rally going in the final quarter as the Lady Rebels battled back to tie the game at 58-58 at the end of regulation. Williams scored 7 points in the final quarter.
Alexis Taylor finished the night with 22 points. Abby Williams added 19 for the Lady Rebels. JaMya Kay also reached double digits with 12 points.
Jo Byrns was led by Julia Arms with 21 points.
With the loss, which was the 4th in their last five games, the Lady Rebels drop to 12-7 on the season. They are set to return to action Friday night on the road at Franklin-Simpson.
