The Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball team put a three-game skid behind it and completed a regular-season sweep of Fort Campbell with a 64-49 victory on Monday.  The Warriors improved to 3-0 all-time against the Falcons and picked up their second 8th-District win of the season.

Maurice Moore got the Falcons off to a quick start with a three-pointer and a pair of free throws for a 6-0 lead before Jason Leek answered with five straight for the Warriors.  HCA’s Cash Bolinger drilled a three to tie the game at 8-8 and start an 8-0 run, capped by a Jay Simpson triple.  But Tyreek Anthony and Dason Tate connected on back-to-back shots from behind the arc and Eric Greene sank a pair of free throws to pull Fort Campbell even at 16-16 after the first quarter.

The teams battled back and forth over the first four minutes of the second frame until a steal and layup by Leek made it 25-24 HCA.  The Warriors closed the half on a 7-2 spurt, capped by a bucket in the lane for Cooper Kirkman, to lead 32-26 at the halftime break.

Layton Giltner scored in the paint to open the second half and Bolinger followed with his second three-pointer to give the Warriors their first double-digit advantage.  Greene’s and-1 pulled the Falcons to within six points at 40-34 with just under two minutes left in the third, but HCA scored the final seven points of the quarter.  Landon Wells connected from behind the arc to restore a double-digit lead and Leek hit a deep three just ahead of the buzzer to put the Warriors in front 47-34.

Fort Campbell got as close as 12 after a putback by JaCaryous Perriman with 5:49 left, but a corner three-pointer by Wells halted the Falcons’ momentum.  Bradley Boyd’s reverse layup gave HCA its largest lead of the night at 64-45 before Moore closed the game with a pair of layups to finish with a team-high 16 points for the Falcons.

Leek’s 28 led all scorers, and Wells also reached double figures for the Warriors with ten.  Giltner led the way with nine rebounds and Leek pulled down seven.

HCA shot 22/48 from the floor, including 9/20 from behind the arc for 45%.

Fort Campbell won the battle on the boards 41-32 but connected on only 17 of 71 shots, including 4/27 from three-point land.  The Falcons also left ten points at the foul line, finishing 11/21.
