Northeast Tops Lady Falcons for Season Sweep

Points were in short supply on Thursday for the Fort Campbell girls’ basketball team in a 63-15 defeat to visiting Northeast with the loss giving the Eagles a season sweep over the Lady Falcons.

Northeast jumped out to a 24-6 advantage behind nine first-quarter points for Qimara Summers and seven for Eliza Brimley.  Rosella Rajj had three for Fort Campbell and Laticyia Cabrera added a bucket.

Rajj’s three points were all the Lady Falcons could muster in the second quarter, and they trailed 46-9 at the halftime break.  Krista Brandon scored six in the frame to lead Northeast.

With a running clock in the second half, Northeast outscored Fort Campbell 10-3 in the third and 7-3 in the fourth.  Brandon led all scorers with 16, followed by Summers with nine.

Rajj finished with eight points and five rebounds for Fort Campbell, and Cabrera added four points and five boards.

The Lady Falcons slipped to 2-10 and have a week off before hosting Dawson Springs on February 2.
