Coming off an emotional district win over Christian County on Wednesday, the Hopkinsville Tigers looked to make it two straight meaningful wins on Thursday against Madisonville.

However, the Maroons rallied for a 70-65 win over Hoptown at Tiger Gym.

It was a back-and-forth game with neither team able to pull away from the other throughout the first half. The Tigers held a 43-37 halftime advantage and kept it until the final two minutes of the third quarter when Madisonville surged ahead 58-54.

Antonio Williams put back his own missed shot ahead of the horn to cut the Maroon lead to 58-56.

But eight Hoptown turnovers in the final quarter kept them from regaining the lead.

De’Reion Dudley scored buckets on three consecutive possessions to cut the Madisonville lead to one point, the last coming with 2:15 left. He led the Tigers with 19 points.

Montae Ratliff led Madisonville with 22 points as the Maroons picked up its second win over Hopkinsville this season.
