On Friday, Trigg County gave Coach Mason Burgett the game and result he feels they can produce every night.

The Wildcats shot 56 percent from the field and outrebounded Apollo 34-21 in grabbing a 67-54 win at Wildcat Gym.

Trigg County used a 10-0 run toward the end of the second quarter to take a 35-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Apollo cut the Trigg lead to three points in the third quarter, but the Wildcats answered with a 10-2 run to take a 52-41 lead into the final frame.

Trigg was able to attack the paint and shoot 68 percent from inside the arc. Trigg needed a 56-percent shooting night to offset a 14-of-26 night at the charity stripe.

Apollo was able to hang close thanks to six 3-pointers and a 12-of-16 shooting clip at the free throw line.

The difference proved to be Trigg’s bench. Caleb Fogle came in and hit a pair of 3-pointers to finish with eight points. Lance Breckel added four points and five rebounds, and Joshuan Bridges added four points as Trigg’s bench outscored Apollo’s 16-3. Trigg was +13 with Fogle on the floor and +8 when Breckel played.

Jhaden Vaughn led the Wildcats with 15 points and 16 rebounds. He also dished out five assists. Jerimyah Shearer scored 16 points, and Landon Stewart and Davaree Gude each scored nine points.

Luke Jarboe and Eli Williams each put up 14-point, 5-rebound nights.

Trigg County improved to 6-5 all-time against Daviess County schools. Last year, Apollo won the first-ever meeting between the schools 62-53 in overtime.

Apollo drops to 10-10 with its fourth straight loss.

Trigg County gets back to .500 with an 8-8 record and will play at Carlisle County on Saturday afternoon.
