The Heritage Christian Academy Warriors took 4th place in the KCAC tournament Saturday after a pair of tough losses. After picking up an opening-round win Friday night against Christian Fellowship, the Warriors lost a semifinal battle to Somerset Christian Saturday and then fell late in the consolation game to Oneida Baptist.

In the first game Saturday, Somerset Christian knocked down 15 3-pointers on their way to a 81-76 win over HCA. Somerset connected on seven threes in the first half and eight more in the second on their way to the victory.

Heritage Christian led 37-35 at the break. The Warriors extended the lead in the third quarter, taking a 58-53 lead into the final quarter. Jack Baker led a Somerset Christian 4th quarter rally scoring 13 points as SCS scored 28 points in the 4th to come back and take the five point win.

Heritage Christian got big games from both Jason Leek and Layton Giltner. Leek finished with 25 points while Giltner scored 21 and pulled down 9 rebounds.

The consolation game with Oneida Baptist saw Heritage Christian trail most of the game. The Warriors though battled back and took a 50-49 lead late before Jason Leek fouled out and Oneida was able to claim the 56-52 win.

Leek finished the game with 21 points to lead Heritage Christian.

HCA goes to 9-9 on the season and is set to go on the road Monday to take on Madisonville-North Hopkins.
