Colonels’ Slide Continues With Loss at McCracken

The Christian County Colonels saw a halftime lead slip away on the road at McCracken County on Saturday, falling 65-56 for their fifth straight defeat.

Darren Bigbee knocked down a pair of three-pointers to get the Colonels off to a good start, and Jordan Miles connected twice from behind the arc on the way to eight early points.  However, Owen Grogan posted 12 points for McCracken, and the game was tied 22-22 after the first quarter.

Both teams tightened up defensively in the second frame, with Miles scoring half of the Colonels’ ten points for a 32-30 lead at the halftime break.

Christian County’s Derrell Bateman scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half, but the Colonels were held to only 24 points after the break.  Connor Miller finished with a game-high 22 for McCracken, including 16 in the final two quarters, to help the Mustangs pull away for their third-straight win and fifth in their last six outings.

Miles matched Bateman with 17 points to lead the Colonels, and Theo Quarles added seven.

Grogan joined Miller in double figures with 14 for the Mustangs, and Grayson Parish scored ten.

Christian County slipped to 7-14, and will face defending state champions Warren Central on Monday in Colonel Gym.
