
The Carlisle County boys’ basketball team extended its winning run to five games with its eighth victory in nine tries, topping Trigg County 82-70 in Bardwell on Saturday.
The Comets made the most of 29 free-throw attempts, outscoring the Wildcats by 13 at the line while knocking down eight three-pointers.
The Wildcats were outscored 19-13 in the first quarter before posting 25 points in the second to lead 38-36 at the break. However, Carlisle County was hot out of the gate in the second half, outscoring Trigg by 11 to move in front 59-56 with a quarter to play.
Jerimyah Shearer finished with 21 points, five rebounds, five steals, and three assists, but it wasn’t enough as the Wildcats couldn’t cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter. Jhaden Vaughn scored 20 points and hauled down a team-high 13 rebounds while connecting on 7/13 shot attempts.
Trigg County slipped to 8-9 with a trip to Stewart County, TN coming up on Tuesday.
Carlisle improved to 14-6 with only two losses in the the month of January.
