
The Murray High Lady Tigers used a strong fourth quarter to defeat Trigg County 44-36 on Monday at Wildcat Gym.
The game was tied at 25 after three quarters, but Murray scored the first five points of the fourth quarter, and Trigg County could get no closer than three points the rest of the way.
Murray knocked down 11 of 16 free throws in the final frame to stave off any Trigg County comeback attempt.
The Lady Wildcats were hurt in the contest by turnovers – 29 of them led to 16 Murray points.
The Lady Tigers also outscored Trigg County 20-12 in the paint.
The Lady Wildcats got a career-high 20 points from Reese Bush. She hit all three of Trigg County’s three-pointers, was 7 of 12 at the free throw line, and contributed six rebounds.
8th grader AJ Navarro came off the bench to score seven points and grab three steals.
Murray got 14 points from Malya Smith. She fouled out with 3:24 to go. Makira Bomar added 12 points for the Lady Tigers who won its second straight game to improve to 5-10.
Trigg County has lost six straight games. They fell to 3-14 and will travel to Stewart County, Tennessee on Tuesday.
