A second-half scoring surge couldn’t rescue the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team from a slow start in a 56-53 loss to visiting East Robertson, TN on Tuesday in Elkton.
The loss was the third straight and sixth in their last five outings for the Rebels, leaving them at 8-11 ahead of a 13th-District rematch with Logan County on Thursday. The Cougars took the first meeting 80-68 to snap a five-game skid in the series.
After a 7-7 tie in the first quarter, Elijah Groves and Luke Hall combined for 11 points to help East Robertson outscore Todd Central 14-8. Jamison Glass scored five for the Rebels but they trailed 21-15 at the halftime break.
Groves led the Indians with nine in the third quarter, but Glass posted 11 to help Todd Central trim two points off the deficit. Just as they did in the third, the Rebels scored 19 in the fourth behind ten more for Glass, but Braden Jones scored eight to help East Robertson hold on for the win.
Glass was the lone Rebel in double figures with 29. Keyshawn Moore scored four in the fourth to finish with nine, and Zack Robinson added six.
Groves finished with a game-high 23, with Hall and Jones each scoring ten for the Indians.
