
Stewart County remained perfect all-time against the Trigg County Lady Wildcats, handing the Lady Wildcats a 59-32 loss Tuesday in Dover.
The Lady Rebels began the game with 17 straight points and led 22-1 after one quarter. Trigg County struggled against the Stewart County press defense, committing 10 turnovers that led to 14 Lady Rebel points.
Trigg County maintained some in the second quarter and trailed 29 to 7 at intermission.
Stewart County broke the game open with a 25-10 third quarter run that triggered the running clock. The Lady Wildcats were able to get some offense going in the fourth quarter and used a 15-1 run for the final margin.
Evonna McGee knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished with nine points. Reese Bush added seven points and four rebounds.
Stewart County saw four players celebrate senior night and they combined for 26 points. But it was a sophomore, Jaelyn Newman, who led them with 15 points. Angie Nelson came off the bench to score 13 points.
The game was the first meeting between the schools in 11 years and Stewart County improved to 6-0 all-time against Trigg County.
The Lady Rebels improved its record to 13-8 with its second win over a 5th District school in as many days. They defeated Livingston Central 47-34 on Monday in Smithland.
Trigg County has lost seven straight games to drop to 3-15. They will host Caldwell County on Thursday night as part of a homecoming doubleheader at Wildcat Gym.
