After surrendering 80 points in a loss at Logan County just over two weeks ago, the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team got defensive and made big plays down the stretch to pull out a 62-56 overtime victory on Friday night in Elkton.

The Rebels snapped a three-game skid with their seventh win in the last eight in the series with the Cougars.  Todd Central moved to 2-3 in district play while Logan lost its third in a row to slip to 3-2 against district competition.

Jamison Glass provided an early highlight with back-to-back dunks off steals to put the Rebels in front 13-4 and force a Logan County timeout.  Samson Hightower knocked down a three-pointer for the Cougars out of the break, but Todd Central led by eight after Miles Reding scored on a drive to close the first quarter.

The Cougars closed to five after four-straight points from Brady Hinton, but Glass had the answer with another dunk and a three-pointer to stretch the lead to ten with 2:39 left in the half.  A three-point play by Hinton and a pair of free throws from Nick Blann again trimmed it to five before the teams traded buckets from behind the arc to end the first half.

Logan’s Kade Wall scored on a layup to tie the game late in the third.  Glass tacked on nine more points, including a bucket in the paint with :30 left for a 39-37 Rebel edge.

The lead changed hands three times in the fourth quarter before Glass scored on the baseline to make it 48-44.  But Todd Central wouldn’t score over the last two and a half minutes of the frame to allow Logan County to tie it up and send the game to overtime.

Todd Central opened OT with seven-straight points capped by a corner three by Devin Schutt.  The Cougars came up empty on a trip to the free throw line, and Schutt hit a pair at the other end to restore the five-point advantage.  Logan County got as close as two with :51 left, but Glass went 3/4 at the line and Zack Robinson hit one of two to seal the win.

Glass poured in 36 points to lead all scorers, Schutt finished with nine, and Keyshawn Moore added seven.

Hightower led the Cougars with 17, and Wall and Hinton each scored 11.
