
Caldwell County finished in sixth place and will send three wrestlers to the first KHSAA girls’ state tournament later this month in Lexington.
Sophie Parrish is a region champion after defeating John Hardin’s Naiya Marie Delos Santos with a second-round pin in the championship of the 100-pound class.

Virginia Stewart took second place in the 235-pound class, falling to Henderson County’s Jasmin Beckham, the state’s No.5 wrestler, in the championship match.
T.J. Goodwin took third place in the 114-pound class. She won three matches with her only loss coming to Fort Campbell’s Kayla Maslonka in the semifinals.
Parrish, Stewart, and Goodwin will compete at the first KHSAA state girls’ tournament on February 17 at Alltech Arena in Lexington.
Two other wrestlers reached the medal podium for Caldwell County.
Rylie Bruce was sixth at 126 and Alyvia Barnwell was sixth at 120.
Caldwell County’s 74 points were good for a sixth-place finish out of 18 teams at the first Region I meet.
Union County (146) won the team championship with Fort Campbell (129) second and Henderson County (115) third.
