Rheanna Walker will be the first Hopkinsville High wrestler to compete in the KHSAA Girls State Tournament following a fourth-place finish at the region on Saturday.
She opened with a win over South Warren’s Elizabeth Ward with a pin.
Walker lost to Caldwell County’s T.J. Goodwin by a pin in the quarterfinals which dropped her to the consolation bracket.
Walker beat Trigg County’s Ezashia Jones and Owensboro’s HaSe Nar to advance to the third-place match. However, Walker took a medical forfeit to finish in fourth place.
Her points gave Hopkinsville a 16th-place team finish.
Walker will wrestle at the first KHSAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament on February 17 at Alltech Arena in Lexington.
