
The Hopkinsville girls’ basketball team used a suffocating full-court press to race out to a huge early lead on the way to an 87-11 victory over visiting Heritage Christian Academy on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers won for the second time in three outings to improve to 6-9 and even their 8th-District record at 2-2.
Alicia Davis scored 15 first-quarter points and Hopkinsville feasted on turnovers to lead 42-3 with just eight minutes played. Shiyah Forte dominated in the paint on the way to ten points, Kahtahvia Fleming scored nine, and LaShanti Wilson added eight.
Davis and Wilson combined for 12 points in the second and the Lady Tigers built the lead to 62-9 at the halftime break. Kate St. Martin connected on a pair of three-pointers, but the Lady Warriors were outscored 20-6 in the frame.
Davis scored 24 in the first half to lead all scorers and Fleming scored six in the third to finish with 15. Wilson was next for the Lady Tigers with 13, Makayah Payton drilled a pair of fourth-quarter three-pointers to finish with 11, and Forte did all her damage in the first quarter with ten.
Hopkinsville will head to McLean County looking to make it two wins in a row on Monday. HCA slipped to 1-12 and will host Stewart County, TN on Thursday.
