Trigg County will send one wrestler to the state tournament after Saturday’s region tourney at Caldwell County.
Sophomore MaKenna Hendricks finished in second place in the 165-pound class, losing to Fort Campbell’s Brooke Arbic. Hendricks won her first two matches by pin.
Hendricks is 10-2 in matches this season, with both losses coming to Arbic.
Skyler Novosselov reached the medal podium with a fifth-place finish in the 145-pound class but missed out on a state tourney berth as only the first four places advance. She finished her day with four wins.
Ezashia Jones won a match at 114 but lost to Hopkinsville’s Rheanna Walker in the consolation bracket.
As a team, Trigg County finished in 13th place with 40 points.
Hendricks will wrestle at the first KHSAA girls’ state tournament on February 17 at Alltech Arena in Lexington.
She won a state title and has two top-three finishes in three previous girls’ state tournaments that were sponsored by the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association.
