Crittenden County used a 12-2 run during a decisive third quarter to defeat the Trigg County Lady Wildcats 56-44 Monday at Wildcat Gym.

Elliot Evans scored eight of her 16 points during the third quarter run and was joined in double figures during the contest by Anna Boone with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

The first half featured two ties and four lead changes with the last tie at 17-17 before Crittenden County inched out to a 31-22 halftime advantage.

The Lady Rockets led by as many as 17 points late before Trigg County cut the final deficit to 12 points.

Reese Bush had 13 points and four rebounds for the Lady Wildcats while 8th grader Veyda Grinols added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The win was Crittenden County’s eighth straight over the Lady Wildcats, who haven’t beaten the Lady Rockets in Cadiz since 2018.

Crittenden County beat Trigg by 25 points in December in Marion, and Monday’s game served as an example of the Lady Wildcats’ improved play of late.

Trigg County, who will be the number four seed in the district tournament later this month, will host Lyon County Tuesday night at Wildcat Gym. A Lyon County win will make them the number one seed and mean a matchup between Trigg and Lyon in the district semifinals.
