Lady Tigers Top McLean For Third Win in Four

The Hopkinsville girls’ basketball team looks to be hitting its stride as the regular season winds down, with Monday’s 65-34 victory over hosts McLean County the Lady Tigers’ third in their last four games.

Hoptown improved to 7-9 and will close the regular-season slate with a pair of home games next week against Logan County and Crittenden County.

Alicia Davis and Lashanti Wilson got the Lady Tigers started on Monday, combining for 11 first-quarter points for a 17-5 Hopkinsville advantage.

Davis added five more in the second frame and the Lady Tigers again held McLean County to only five points to go into the halftime break up 30-10.

Sarah Larkin scored five points to start the second half but Hoptown answered with nine from Davis and Shiyah Forte chipped in seven to continue to extend the Lady Tiger lead.

Hopkinsville again held the Lady Cougars to single digits in the fourth quarter while Forte and TaRia Sharber scored 11 of the Lady Tigers’ 15 points for the final margin.

Davis led all scorers with 22, followed by Forte with 19, and Wilson with 9.

McLean County slipped to 6-12 with its third loss in four outings.
