Lyon County scored the first 22 points of the game and routed Trigg County 92-36 on Tuesday to continue its recent mastery of the Wildcats.

The win was Lyon County’s 15th straight over Trigg, with the last five wins decided by an average of 48 points.

Both teams were missing key players due to injury. Lyon County played without Jack Reddick (17 ppg.) for a third straight game. Trigg County was without its two leading scorers – Jhaden Vaughn (17 ppg.) and Davaree Gude (11 ppg.).

In the end, it was Lyon County’s early pressure defense and ability to dictate the tempo that decided this one quickly.

Trigg County turned the ball over on its first eight possessions, unable to advance the basketball past half-court. The miscues led to easy Lyon County buckets and a 22-0 lead that was eventually 35-4 after one quarter.

Lyon built its lead to 66-13 by halftime and led by as many as 62 points in the second half.

Playing in his final game at Wildcat Gym, Travis Perry scored 30 points and handed out four assists in 18 minutes of action. Brady Shoulders added 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, while also playing 18 minutes.

The Lyons also got 14 points from Bray Kirk and an 11-point, nine-rebound night from Isaac DeFew.

Lyon County shot 60 percent from the field in the first half and 50 percent for the game. They also outrebounded Trigg 47-14, leading to 27 second-chance points.

Eighth-grader Timmy Williams led the Wildcats with 11 points, with Joshuan Bridges adding seven.

Lyon County will be the No. 1 seed in the district tournament with its 35th straight win over district opponents.

Trigg County will be the No. 2 seed with its only two district losses this season coming to Lyon County. The Wildcats will travel to Dawson Springs on Friday. A Saturday game at Madisonville was canceled.

The Lyons will play Bowling Green on Saturday in the Akridge Ace Hardware Shootout in Eddyville.
