Caldwell County senior Avery Thompson gets emotional when she discusses her team’s trip to UCA Nationals this weekend in Orlando, Florida, and with good reason.
This is Avery’s last season cheering with her sister Addison, a sophomore. Their work, along with the work of their teammates through fundraising, is making the trip to Florida possible.
Avery also knows her coach was on a cheer team that qualified for the national competition but couldn’t go.
Caldwell County will be competing in two categories in Friday’s opening round of competition.
In this YSE interview, Avery explained what this weekend’s experience meant to her.
