The Christian County Lady Colonels had been on a roll of late, winning their last seven games and nine of their last ten. That was probably news that did not bode well for a very young Fort Campbell Lady Falcon team as they came rolling into Lyle Dunbar Gym Thursday night.
Christian County took control of the game early with a 19-0 run and kept rolling from there, on their way to an 86-12 district win over the Lady Falcons.
The game was tied at 2-2 about a minute in after a basket from Fort Campbell’s Rosella Rajj. Three minutes later, Christian County had ripped off a 19-0 run to make it a 21-2 lead with still half the opening quarter to go. Amari Northington had one of her best quarters of the season for Christian County, putting up 13 points.
The Lady Colonels’ lead was 31-3 when the quarter ended. Christian County limited Fort Campbell to just one made field goal in the second quarter as reserves for the Lady Colonels kept things on the move. The margin was 53-5 at the break.
With the running clock in play at the beginning of the second half, the rest of the game played out quickly. Christian County’s lead would grow to 60 by the end of the third quarter at 68-8. Reserves saw all of the action in the second half for the Lady Colonels.
With 12 different players scoring for Christian County, three players hit double figures. Amari Northington and Anaysia Bagwell finished with 13 points each to lead the way. Carliah Hobson had 12 for Christian County.
Rosella Rajj scored all 12 points in the game for the Lady Falcons.
With the win, Christian County now stands at 13-8 on the season. The Lady Colonels are back in action Friday night as they host the Trigg County Lady Wildcats.
