Just days after Christian County High School announced the hiring of a new head football coach, the search will now begin for a new coach across town at Hopkinsville High School. Marc Clark announced Friday afternoon that he was stepping down as the head man for the Tigers. The announcement comes just shy of two years after the date that he returned to Hopkinsville.

In a statement posted on social media, Clark said “I pride myself on making decisions with integrity and centralizing my focus on areas that are within my control. While I could get into specifics on my decision, I feel that my energy and effort would be better suited in showing gratitude for all the people who supported our program, my family, and me throughout our time in Hopkinsville.”

Clark had just finished the second year of his second stint as the Tigers’ head football coach, giving him a total of eight years in the position.

In a release, Hopkinsville High School principal Cindy Campbell thanked Coach Clark for his hard work, dedication, and support to the student-athletes and wished Coach Clark and his family “the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

During his second tenure at Hopkinsville, Clark’s teams went 7-15, making the playoffs in his first season, but missing the postseason in 2023.

After six seasons at the helm at McCracken County High School, Marc Clark returned to be the Hopkinsville football head coach in February 2022. Clark previously served as the Tigers’ head coach from 2011-16.

Clark was 31-36 in his first stint with the Tigers, finishing a combined 20-4 in his final two seasons before taking the McCracken County job.

He coached the Mustangs to a 32-29 record over his five seasons in Paducah, winning District Coach of the Year three times and earning the 2016 Western Kentucky Conference Coach of the Year.
