After going 14 games over nine years without a victory against Webster County, the Christian County girls’ basketball team has now won two in a row in the series with a 68-44 win in Dixon on Saturday.  The Lady Colonels prevailed for the tenth straight outing to improve to 15-8 with two games remaining in the regular season.

Anaysia Bagwell connected on a pair of early three-pointers and NeVeah Day chipped in four points to lead the Lady Colonels to a 20-9 advantage after the first quarter.

Jaycie Wright and Hannah Yates combined for ten points in the second for Webster County, but Christian County had five players score in the frame to outscore the Lady Trojans 13-12 for a 33-21 halftime lead.

Christian County held Webster to a single basket and only seven points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.  Bagwell hit for nine points and Lazarie Daniel matched that output to account for all the Lady Colonels offense and send them to the fourth quarter with a 23-point cushion.

Daniel capped a game-high 21 point performance with seven more in the fourth, while also stuffing the stat sheet with 11 rebounds and four steals.  Bagwell finished with 17 points, and Day posted a double-double with ten points and 16 boards.

The Lady Trojans dropped their fifth straight game to slip to 4-22.  Wright led the way with 15 points followed by Yates with 14.

Christian County has a week off before travelling to Union County on Friday and closing out the regular season at Caldwell on February 17.
