Gavin Kline’s decision to come out for wrestling after the season started proved to be a correct one as the Trigg County sophomore finished in fourth place at the region tournament and qualified for the state tourney.

Kline won two of his first three matches and fell to Caldwell County’s Logan Brown in the third-place match.

Kline will wrestle at the KHSAA State Tournament Thursday and Friday at Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Three other wrestlers just missed reaching the medal podium at the region tourney, hosted by Calloway County.

Tate Greenfield won two matches at 106. Caleb Kline won a pair of matches at 144, and Jeremiah Lawrence won two matches at 157.

Trigg County finished in 11th place with 37 points, 12.5 points more than 12th place Owensboro, and 24 points less than tenth place Calloway County.
