Defensive First Half Carries Rebels Past Ballard Memorial

The Todd County Central defense put the clamps on Ballard Memorial in the first half Monday night and that allowed the Rebels to pick up their second straight win. The Rebels gave up just 14 points in the opening half and had three players hit for double figures on the night as they cruised to a 64-52 road win over the Bombers.

The Rebel defense got off the bus on the long road trip ready to go, holding Ballard Memorial to just one field goal and four points in the opening quarter as the Rebels took an 11-4 lead. Jamison Glass scored six of the Rebels’ points in the first.

Todd County Central held the Bombers to just one free throw over the final 3 ½ minutes of the quarter.

The Rebels kept rolling as the second quarter got underway. Todd County Central scored five points in the opening minute of the second to run the lead out to 16-4. Through the first nine minutes of the game, Ballard Memorial had just one field goal to show for its efforts.

By halftime, the Rebel lead was 30-14. Keshawn Moore had a big second quarter for Todd County Central, putting up seven points.

The Ballard Memorial offense did find a better rhythm as the second half got underway but could not slow down the Rebel attack. At quarter’s end, Todd County Central led 50-31. The Bombers had no answer for Glass in the third as the Rebel big man added 8 points to his total.

The Bombers got the Rebel attack slowed down in the final 8 minutes, but the lead was just too much as Todd County Central picked up the 12-point win.

Jamison Glass finished with 19 points for Todd County Central. Keshawn Moore added 17 points. Hayden Strader hit four 3-pointers and ended up with 15 points.

Jace Birney was the only Bomber to reach double-digits with 16 points.

The Rebels improve to 11-13 with the win. Todd County Central is now off until Friday night’s game against Warren East.
